Our approach

• We offer broad range, in depth and state of the art training. We continue to hone and adapt our training materials based on best practices and current industry standards. We use the classical DMAIC, DFSS, and Lean toolset as the basis; other tools are used on an as needed basis.
• We don’t believe in ‘art for the art’ but stimulate critical thinking and require of our participants to use the most appropriate tool(s) for the task at hand; we want you to be result driven without compromising the proven methodology.
• We help our participants to create an general Project Plan to solve a business problem for the last time without loosing sight of the essential steps that need to be taken.

We do not want your candidates to be paralyzed by data analysis or by too rigid toll gates

• Our approach is rigorous yet pragmatic. The DMAIC methodology is used as a general framework but tools are selected and used as appropriate.

There is no such thing as pre-course work. Some providers will offer you courses shorter than ours. However, keep in mind that in their program, candidates will be required to do some form of self-instruction. For instance many providers will offer a 4 week MAIC course where we will offer you a standard 5 week DMAIC course. Judging from our experience there are very few people that cover the Define phase well without guidance. Furthermore we are convinced that DMAIC should be spelled D_MAIC and that the failure modes are prevalently present in D and C.

• Again, through experience we have determined that leaving the D open for the client, results either in project failure or in time being taken away in the subsequent weeks of instruction.
• As stated, we want to be a help in driving your success and giving your candidates full training in project selection, project identification, project financial indicators, thereby creating the foundations for project success.
• Only in rare occasions where a client has substantial experience in running projects would we agree not to be part of the define phase.
• None of our Green or Black Belt training requires anything more than basic arithmetic and the fundamentals of MS Excel as prerequisites.

The mathematics behind the scenes are part of the appendix (for the curious) but will not be covered during the training.

Our focus is on teaching candidates to understand numerical results and draw practical conclusions expressed in plain common language.

• We solely rely on the use of a Statistical Software Package (MINITAB preferred). Others can be used (ask us about customization) for number crunching.
